Inflation and the economy remain the top issue facing Nevadans today, a Reno Gazette Journal/Suffolk University poll found, but as concern over abortion rights takes center stage in the midterm elections, the two vulnerable Democratic incumbents at the top of the ticket have gained a lead on Republican opponents. In Nevada’s pivotal U.S. Senate race, incumbent Catherine Cortez Masto, the country’s first Latina senator, has turned a three-point deficit in April into a seven-point advantage. Today, she leads 45 percent to 38 percent over Republican challenger Adam Laxalt, a former one-term Nevada attorney general. …
Meanwhile, Gov. Steve Sisolak has overtaken Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo — 43 percent to 40 percent — although the race is within the poll’s 4.4 percent margin of error. In April, Lombardo held a two-point advantage over Sisolak. CONTINUED
