… Let’s start with the poll that has every poll junkie buzzing tonight: the vaunted Des Moines Register/Ann Selzer poll of Iowa. If it’s not President Trump’s best poll of the cycle, I’m not sure what is: Mr. Trump led by seven points, 48 percent to 41 percent, in a state thought to be close enough that Joe Biden visited there yesterday. …
The poll is legitimately good news for the president, and it should be taken seriously. But taking a poll seriously does not entail taking it to the bank — not even if it’s the well-regarded Selzer poll. We just had a similar case in the opposite direction: an ABC News/Washington Post poll earlier this week that showed Mr. Biden ahead by 17 points in Wisconsin. CONT.
