Oregonians’ Opinions About Police, Protests and Racial Injustice

DHM Research and the Oregon Values and Beliefs Center are pleased to release results from a new statewide survey on Oregonians’ opinions about police, protests and racial injustice. …

• 55% of Oregonians approve of the job performance of their local police, while only 40% approve of police in the United States broadly.
• A majority (55%) of Oregonians believe that police treat white people better than Black people, though there are large differences in opinion by political party, age, education and area of the state.
• 66% of Oregonians support Black Lives Matter which is up from 54% in May 2018.
• 67% of Oregonians support the protests around the country in response to the death of George Floyd while only 35% approve of the way police have responded to the protests. CONT.
