The one poll number that could haunt Trump on coronavirus

On one level, polls of President Trump’s handling of the coronavirus look just like his handling of just about everything else. Despite a slight early bump, his approval on the matter is now in the mid-40s — about where his overall approval rating is and has been for long stretches of his presidency.

But while Americans seem to be standing by their commander in chief about as much as they usually do, a couple of new polls reinforce a major liability for the president as the virus spreads.

A new NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll this weekend showed that fully 65 percent of Americans say Trump did not take the coronavirus “seriously enough at the beginning.” CONT.
