It’s another Trump-era Thanksgiving, and the country is more divided than ever. Americans are split evenly on impeaching President Trump, some polls suggest a tight race between Trump and his eventual general election opponent, and Democrats are nowhere close to a consensus in their presidential primary. Contra the popular trope, most families aren’t going to spend Thanksgiving fighting over politics, but most Americans do think that we’re greatly divided over our most important values and believe the country is on the wrong track.
But don’t despair — Americans are more united than we might seem. Trump is obviously divisive. But Americans still trust some of our most important institutions, are still patriotic and even agree on some big political questions. CONT.
