As someone who spends a lot of time reading about and considering the 2020 Democratic primary field, I’m always struck by how many other Americans have spent approximately zero seconds doing so. I’m not, like, stunned; it’s my job to pay attention to this stuff, which can be a powerful motivator. But it’s still surprising to discover that fully 40 percent of Americans have never heard of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), who announced that she was running for president on a popular late-night talk show and who represents one of the largest states in the country. CONT.
