Majority of Americans blame Trump for the shutdown

A majority of Americans blame President Donald Trump for the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, according to the latest poll from the PBS NewsHour and Marist.

Fifty-four percent of U.S. adults said Trump is most responsible for the shutdown, and another 31 percent of Americans said congressional Democrats are at fault. Only 5 percent said Republicans on Capitol Hill are behind this latest episode of dysfunctional government, and an additional 10 percent of Americans said they had no idea who caused this impasse.
