Larry Bartels, a political scientist at Vanderbilt, provided insight into the Democratic strategic dilemma in a recent paper, “Partisanship in the Trump Era.”

Bartels determined that Democrats are close to united in their support of an activist government that reduces the gap between rich and poor, regulates the environment and insures access to health care. Still, according to Bartels, cultural issues sow discord among Democrats. CONT.
