Fox News Poll: Voters see China as main threat, call Biden too accommodating

Voters dislike how President Joe Biden is handling China and Russia, the two nations they think pose the biggest risk to the United States. The latest Fox News survey asks voters to name which country is the greatest threat to the U.S., and 51% say China, while 30% point to Russia. North Korea comes in a distant third at 8%. That’s quite different from three years ago, when 36% said China was the country’s worst enemy, 18% put Russia at the top of the list, and 16% said North Korea. …

Overall, sizable numbers are concerned about a war between the U.S. and China (68%) and worry that U.S. support of Ukraine could result in a U.S.-Russia war (66%). CONTINUED

Fox News Poll: Majority says Biden trying to cover up origins of COVID-19

Majorities of voters think COVID-19 leaked from a lab in China and the Biden administration is trying to cover up its origins. The latest Fox News national survey finds 62% believe COVID-19 was created by scientists in China, while 33% think it evolved from nature. That’s almost identical to what views were two years ago (60-31%). …

Overall, 39% of voters are worried about the virus. That’s down from 55% last May and 72% who were concerned in January 2022. CONTINUED

Fox News Poll: 71% choose funding Social Security, Medicare over budget cuts

As Congress considers ways to avoid defaulting on the nation’s debt, the latest Fox News survey finds most voters see the national debt situation as a major problem, if not a crisis. And while majorities also see the funding of Social Security as a problem or crisis, they would rather continue funding entitlement programs than reduce the federal budget deficit.

While a large majority call the debt situation a major problem (50%), if not a crisis (28%) – fewer feel that way than did a decade ago. That 28% describing it as a crisis is down from 40% in 2013 (when the question was last asked). The drop is driven more by Republicans: 39% call it a crisis, while 54% did in 2013. Among Democrats, 17% say it’s a crisis now vs. 25% previously. CONTINUED

Fox News Poll: Trump’s lead grows in GOP primary race, now over 50% support

Former President Donald Trump has expanded his lead in the Republican primary race, while President Biden continues to face uncertainty among Democratic primary voters, according to the latest Fox News national survey. … Trump made gains among almost every key demographic except for White men with a college degree, where DeSantis is up by 12 points. …

On the other side of the aisle, 52% of Democratic primary voters would like to see someone other than Biden as their party’s presidential nominee, about the same as last month (53%). Some 44% want Biden to be the nominee, up from 37% in February. CONTINUED

Americans feel favorably about many federal agencies, especially the Park Service, Postal Service and NASA

… Americans view 14 of 16 federal agencies more favorably than unfavorably, according to a survey of 10,701 adults conducted March 13-19 by Pew Research Center. Of those 14 agencies, 11 have net favorable ratings of 15 points or more. …

Democrats and those who lean toward the Democratic Party hold consistently favorable views of all 16 agencies asked about, while Republicans and those who lean toward the Republican Party express more unfavorable than favorable views for 10 of the agencies. CONTINUED

Americans are increasingly worried about China-Taiwan tensions

A growing share of Americans are concerned about tensions between China and Taiwan, according to a Pew Research Center survey conducted March 20-26, 2023. Nearly half of U.S. adults (47%) say tensions between mainland China and Taiwan are a very serious problem for the United States, up 4 percentage points since October 2022 and 19 points since February 2021. …

In contrast with the extremely negative views Americans have of China, the U.S. public tends to see Taiwan in a favorable light. About two-thirds of Americans (66%) say they have a positive opinion of Taiwan, including 11% who have a very favorable view, according to the same survey. CONTINUED
