Biden’s awful August threatens to undermine his presidency

President Biden’s chaotic exit from Afghanistan won’t be the top issue for voters when the midterms arrive next year. But the parade of horribles that have resulted from his decisions—the death of 13 military service members from an ISIS suicide bomb, the Taliban and other terrorist groups celebrating American weakness, and broken promises to rescue all Americans stuck in the country—will resonate long after Afghanistan fades from the news.

Biden ran as Donald Trump’s opposite, coming across as an empathetic figure who would restore good relations with our allies. He promised to hire qualified public officials. In his inaugural address, he pledged to defend the truth against “lies told for power and profit.”

His shambolic execution of the Afghanistan withdrawal, instead, made him look an awful lot like Trump. CONTINUED
