How children are exacerbating the vaccine divide between blue and red states

… The vast majority of those receiving a Covid-19 vaccination so far have been adults, as 12- to 15-year-olds were only recently allowed to get vaccinated. While older people are most susceptible to the coronavirus, children (especially older children) can get it and pass it on to others. That’s why it’s important that everybody get vaccinated.

Unfortunately, the trendline of where children are getting vaccinated so far shows an expected but still disappointing development. The same places where adults aren’t getting vaccinated are not seeing children getting vaccinated either, which will only exacerbate the growing discrepancies in the places where the most people are protected from the virus.

An examination of the CDC data shows that we’ve vaccinated a little more than one-fifth of all children aged 12 to 17. CONTINUED
