Part 1: Old polling at the brink of irrelevance
2015 and 2016 saw high-profile polling failures throughout the world. In the summer of 2015, before Brexit and the 2016 US election, The New York Times asked, somewhat rhetorically: “What is the matter with political polling?” Implying that there was already a crisis of confidence in polling.
