… To win in November, Mrs. Clinton needs the core of the Obama coalition to be a part of her village. She has high personal ratings from African Americans and Hispanics, two important Obama constituencies, but her ratings are net negative among 18- to 29-year-olds, another critical group.
Mrs. Clinton leads Mr. Trump among young voters 55% to 32%. Mr. Obama won 66% of 18-to-29-year-old voters in 2008 and 60% of them in 2012, according to exit polls. WSJ/NBC polling this month found that 72% of 18-to-29-year-old Democrats considered themselves Bernie Sanders supporters in the Democratic primaries. All of which means that Hillary Clinton entered the convention with fences to mend.
The question is not whether Mrs. Clinton will win 18- to 29-year-olds against Donald Trump but how many of them will show up and vote for her. CONT.
