With a strong debate performance, Carly Fiorina has stolen the spotlight in the Republican presidential race, surging into second place in a recent poll.
That makes this a good moment to note that while Mrs. Fiorina is the lone woman in the Republican race, her support so far has not been built on any special appeal to women. Mrs. Fiorina’s support to date, in fact, has been largely gender-neutral.
That’s a contrast to the lone woman in the Democratic field, Hillary Clinton, whose support skews female and who, much more than Mrs. Fiorina, has been highlighting her gender during the campaign. CONT.
