A scientifically questionable method of jamming opinion polls together could leave Ohio Gov. John Kasich on the sidelines of the first GOP presidential debate in his own state.
While many already have taken issue with Fox News’ decision — backed by the national Republican Party — to take only the top 10 finishers from a GOP field of up to 18 candidates in five unspecified national surveys just before the Aug. 6 debate, professional pollsters raise serious questions about the accuracy of any effort to combine opinion polls that get their results using different methods.
