Before every presidential election, we chew over the question of whether this will be a foreign policy or a domestic election. Will we be talking about “security moms” or “soccer moms”?
2016 is going to be a security election, but not in the traditional war/peace sense. Instead, we need to think of “security” in broader terms. Economic Security. Security from Terrorism. Security in Leadership. At the end of the day, to paraphrase a quote from Austan Goolsbee, a University of Chicago professor and former Obama economic advisor, people just want to know they are going to be OK. CONT.
