We’ll admit up front that there’s no real way to know the answer to this question. After all, Clinton’s actions in office would have varied from Trump’s to a large degree — perhaps a larger degree than any other alternative-presidency scenario one can imagine. But it’s not the case that one can simply say that, yes, she would have been more popular, as Clinton supporters might be tempted to do.
