Although presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has called the NATO alliance “obsolete,” two-thirds of Americans in the June 10-27 Chicago Council Survey say that NATO is still essential to US security. This includes a majority of Republicans (57%) as well as those who say they are planning to vote for Donald Trump (53%). Further, a combined 75 percent of Americans support either maintaining or increasing the US commitment to NATO. CONT.
