For Their Agendas to Fly, Lame Ducks Need to Run

… Second-term presidents are much more on their own. They need to transform their re-election campaigns into effective, sustained advocacy operations if they want to rack up more than just foreign policy wins during their final years in office.

So what does a successful lame duck organization look like? I put the question to several presidential operatives. All had thoughts, bucketed below, but also noted that while they are reacting to Obama’s effort, the model probably does look a lot like his. To say the next two-termer may make refinements is not to suggest there’s little right in how OFA and company are going about it today.
