Asked to list reasons why they may not vote this year, responses ranged from “don’t like either candidate” to “don’t care” and “vote doesn’t count.”

But the poll also shows why the Obama team is throwing so much muscle and money into grassroots, get-out-the-vote work in precincts and neighborhoods across a dozen battleground states. The electorate’s least engaged citizens may be fed up with politics, but they’re still unusually forgiving toward the president, and ill-disposed toward Mr. Romney. [cont.]
